Performance

Mighty MIVEC Engine

The Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) engine delivers a finely-tuned balance of exhilarating performance and fuel economy. Choose a formidable 162-horsepower, 2.4-liter MIVEC 4-cylinder with a remarkable 28 MPG† rating, or a 265 horsepower MIVEC V6 with enough power and torque to rock the road while still achieving 20 MPG†.

Sporttronic® Automatic Transmission

For smooth, quick gear changes, the Sportronic® automatic transmission in the Eclipse is as advanced as it gets. Coupled with the smart INVECS-II adaptive shift control, Sportronic® is so sophisticated that it actually learns from and adapts to your driving habits. This is one transmission that can keep pace with any driving style.

Sport Suspension

Thousands of grueling miles at the World Rally Championships informed our engineering approach to suspension. Improving upon our world-class performance, we've lowered the Eclipse 15mm (about half an inch). It seems like a small number but this simple modification had big results for both the look and the performance. With a lower center of gravity, the Eclipse Spyder takes a sportier stance, hugs the road even better and slips through the air more efficiently.

Sporty Bucket Seats

These racing-inspired bucket seats feature high, firm bolsters to hold everyone tight during spirited driving, but they're still plenty accommodating and supportive on those long road trips. Looking to up the exotic ante? Treat yourself to available leather-trim and heated options.

18-inch Wheels

Big, bold, 10-spoke, machine-finished alloy wheels provide the perfect complement to the sleek, exotic lines of the Eclipse. Of course, a car's footwear isn't all for show. It's also about performance and handling. The 18-inch wheels in the Eclipse put more rubber on the road, giving you tighter, more precise handling and plenty of grip.

Appearance

Racing Inspired Design

Racing-Inspired Design

Hope you like standing out. Because with its trademark dynamic body, aggressive stance, and racing-inspired look, the 2012 Eclipse wasn't designed to blend in. Not hardly. From the scooped air intake up -front to the dual rear exhaust, there's no mistaking the attitude. Hey, it's not arrogant if you got the goods.

Black-out Roof

Black-out Roof

This all-black rock-star styling first hit the road in 1989 with the release of the very first Eclipse. Two decades later, this new sporty coupe gives a nod to its revolutionary roots by proudly reincorporating the black-out roof into its singular design.

High-Tech Head & Tail Lighting

High-Tech Head & Tail Lighting

Standard on GS Sport, SE and GT, the high-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps cut through the night to announce your arrival. Heading out? Give them a nice look at the Eclipse's clear-chrome tail lamps.

Comfort

Aluminum Sport Pedals

The gold standard of high-performance driving, these aluminum pedals bring an extra element of racing-inspired attitude to the wave-form cockpit.

Bluetooth® Handsfree and Rear-View Backup Camera

Every Eclipse Spyder comes standard with the convenience of Bluetooth® Hands-free wireless and a rear-view backup camera display in the rear-view mirror. Who knew an exotic car could be so sensible?

Soft-Touch Waveform Cockpit

Comfort never looked better. Most cockpit surfaces in the 2012 Eclipse Spyder are covered with textured, soft-touch materials, adding an extra element of luxury to an already well-appointed interior. You'll notice a fresh take on the instrument panel, too. The dash incorporates a center LCD display and motorcycle-inspired gauges with LED shrouds that glow ice-blue at night. In a word: stunning..

650-Watt Rockford Fosgate® Audio System

The standard Rockford Fosgate® premium audio system has a 6-CD/MP3-compatible changer, nine speakers (including a 8-inch subwoofer integrated into the rear seats), and a max of 650 watts of pure sonic power. Play it like you mean it.

Safety & Warranty

10-Year 100,000-Mile Limited Powertrain Warranty*

The engine, transmission and other powertrain components are covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. To keep you on the road, Mitsubishi also offers a 5-year, 60,000-mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty and a 7-year, 100,000-mile anti-corrosion perforation limited warranty.

* All coverage terms are from the original in-service date. The 10-year/100,000 mile Limited Powertrain Warranty applies only to the original owner of new, retailed 2012 models purchased from an authorized Mitsubishi retailer. Subsequent owners receive the balance of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty of 5 years/60,000 miles. See retailer for limited warranty and roadside assistance terms and conditions.

Active Stability Control‡

The standard Active Stability Control (ASC) system constantly monitors traction between the tires and the road. On detecting slippage or a loss of control, ASC alerts the control unit, which applies the brakes on individual wheels to help keep the vehicle moving in your intended direction.

‡ Safety is a two-way street. It requires your attention and cooperation. Please remember to fasten your safety belt, drive responsibly and obey all traffic laws.

Anti-Lock Braking System‡

Eclipse Spyder's anti-lock braking system (ABS) works with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) to add control in hard braking situations - varying the distribution of braking force between front and rear during quick stops to minimize the chance of wheel lockup. These technologies also enable simultaneous braking and turning, helping you to maintain control during sudden stops.

Rigid Construction

A strong unibody chassis ties the front and rear suspension together for improved cornering. Its platform is reinforced with high-strength steel, and additional cross members in the dash area and cabin floor help maintain cabin rigidity in the event of a collision.

Six Standard Airbags**

The Eclipse Spyder's advanced airbag safety system delivers outstanding occupant protection, with four airbags (front, front-seat-mounted side, and front-seat mounted head/thorax side-impact) positioned per extensive crash testing and simulation at the proving grounds.

** Airbags are part of a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). To decrease the risk of injury from a deploying airbag, always wear your seatbelt, sit upright in the middle of the seat and do not lean against the door. Always place children 12 and under in the rear seat and use appropriate child restraints. Never place a rear facing infant restraint in the front seat. See your owner's manual and instructions provided with your child restraint for additional information.
